Kim Simac, national political speaker, author, tea party activist, and leader of the Vilas County Northwoods Patriots announced today the results of the group's latest straw poll for Wisconsin's US Senate Race. A poll of the group's membership has Westlake taking 98% of the vote, with Ron Johnson garnering just 2%. “Dave Westlake has made a definite impact on the voters of Wisconsin's Northwoods.” Simac states. “He's taken the time to visit the Northwoods a number of times and has appeared at several in-depth forums. He always takes time afterwards to listen to voters' concerns and engage in in-depth discussion of his positions on the issues.”
Last month, the group polled its members on several other key races, including Governor, Lt. Governor, and 8th Congressional District.
In the Governor's race, results showed members of the Northwoods Patriots 100% behind Scott Walker, another candidate who has been carefully vetted by the group.
Dave Ross led the Lt. Governor polling, with Ben Collins coming in second. The poll for the 8th District Congressional seat, however, was deeply divided with no clear winner.
“We've decided to conduct straw polls on a more regular basis between now and the September primaries," says Simac. "As campaigns progress, we'll continue vetting candidates. We'll be digging even deeper into their credentials. We'll be looking even more closely to see if their positions line up with the conservative values that the Northwoods Patriots stand for. Regardless of what a poll says last month or today, opinions can change in a hurry. It all depends on what's happening with candidates and what you learn and discover in the vetting process."
Simac said the group plans to update its polls on the Governor, Lt. Governor, and 8th Congressional District sometime next week. The Northwoods Patriots will similarly release those results to the press. The group will take another full straw poll in late July regarding those races, as well as that for U.S. Senate.
